Last month I wrote an article for The Guardian about the social media habits of today’s youngsters and young adults. Generation Y and Generation Z are using the net in different ways to one-another, and brands need to stay abreast of their habits in order to reach them. Said youngsters are adapting faster than marketers, and brands are missing out on the action.

The millennial generation has been shaped by the digital age in which they grew up. The result is a generation of millennials known for their digital savvy, entrepreneurial spirit and somewhat lax regard for personal privacy.

Generation Z are a whole new kettle of fish. Don’t mistake Gen Z for Gen Y, they have marked difference. Gen Z are the fresh-faced, savvier (online) younger siblings of the millennials. They know the ins and outs of the net better than their predecessors, and they’re using this to their advantage. Watch this space…
